What are the uses of the open top container?

Containers have become irreplaceable in global trade. They allow you to transport all kinds of goods. And to meet the different needs of international transport, manufacturers like Cubner offer various containers, adapted for each use.

Open top container, definition

Open top containers are one of the specific containers and look like standard containers, except that they do not have a roof. The latter is replaced by a tarpaulin, thus facilitating the loading and unloading of goods. Open tops can be used instead of standards. However, it must be taken into account that the contents must in no case exceed the top of the container.

The tarpaulin closes with hoops and must be well stretched to ensure the watertightness of the whole thing. This is a tarpaulin adjustable in length, with a thickness of 2 mm. It is made in PVC polyester. Properly arranged, this tarpaulin will effectively protect the goods stored in the open top container. The corners of the latter remain load-bearing, which allows several open tops to be stacked on top of each other, despite the removable roof. They can thus be easily stored on a cargo ship, or in a construction site area.

The removable roof device with a tarpaulin can be replaced by the same system, but with a hard roof. It is then no longer an open top container, but a hard top container. The latter is used for the same purposes as the open top.

The walls of the open top container, made of corrugated sheet metal, are made up ofcorten steel, particularly resistant. It also meets very strict standards and regulations, including CSC standard (or Container Safety Certificate), which certifies the tightness of the equipment.

Le open top container is most often used to store and transport machinery, such as agricultural or oil drilling equipment, while remaining in compliance with ISO standards. Being able to easily load and unload from the top is a real advantage with this container.

The open top container is most generally offered in 20 feet and 40 feet, the two standard sizes. The 20-footer is more compact, but by using two containers of this size, we obtain a cargo as large as with a 40 foot open top container.

For construction from containers, these are most often standard containers Dry which are going to be used. In fact, they allow you to already have a basis of what the walls, floor and ceiling will be.

But for other installations, in particular for swimming pools, open top containers become ideal. The fact that the roof is removable is a real asset. The arrangement of the container is much simpler, and the protective tarpaulin can, for example, be used to cover the swimming pool and protect it from bad weather. If, of course, you decide to keep it.

More and more companies are offering the construction and installation of swimming pools made from containers. Most of the time, these are above-ground swimming pools, which not only give a modern and industrial appearance, but which also do not require the same budget to invest as more classic options. An above-ground swimming pool in a container does not require a building permit application, since it is considered a modular development.

Choosing a container swimming pool is also an ecological choice, since it allows you to recycle a container that is no longer used, and therefore to reuse what could have been thrown away. Although they can no longer be used for the storage and transport of goods, old containers remain resistant and durable structures.

Open top containers are therefore suitable for many uses which differ from those of standard containers. And this, whether for the storage and transport of goods, or even in a development project for your home.
