The storage of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or flammable raw materials leaves no room for improvisation. To meet the strictest safety requirements, Cubner offers solutions for ATEX refrigerated containers certifiedCombining the robustness of the shipping container and cutting-edge engineering, our container plus refrigeration unit assemblies guarantee an uninterrupted cold chain, even in the most unstable environments.

What is an ATEX refrigerated container?

An ATEX (Explosive Atmospheres) refrigerated container is a Reefer container whose internal and external components have been modified to eliminate any risk of sparking or excessive heat source.

Unlike a standard refrigerated container, the ATEX model is designed to store volatile substances (solvents, alcohols, liquefied gases) or to be installed directly in a high-risk production area. At Cubner, we transform these refrigerated modules into fully secure zones.

Tech note: La ATEX regulations (Directive 2014/34/EU) is mandatory whenever an atmosphere can become explosive due to local and operational conditions.

Safety and Compliance: Zones 1 and 2

The choice of container depends on the risk level of your site. Cubner solutions are suitable for the following classifications:

  • Zone 2 (Occasional risk): The explosive mixture can only appear accidentally or over a short period of time.
  • Zone 1 (Frequent risk): The explosive mixture is likely to form under normal operating conditions.
  • Gas and Dust Protection: Our containers meet the requirements of groups IIA, IIB and IIC.

Why does Cubner's expertise make the difference?

Buy or rent an ATEX refrigerated container from CubnerThis ensures comprehensive technical support:

  1. Certified Certification: Each container is delivered with its compliance file.
  2. Durability: To guarantee this, we use one-trip containers
  3. Adaptability: Addition of stainless steel shelving, ATEX LED lighting or access ramps.

Managing industrial risks starts with reliable equipment. With Cubner's ATEX-certified refrigerated containers, you protect your products, your teams, and your investment.

What is the price of an ATEX refrigerated container?

The cost depends on the certification zone (Zone 1 or 2) and dimensions (10, 20, or 40 feet). The price is higher than a standard reefer due to the integrated safety engineering. Contact us for a precise quote.

Can a standard refrigerated container be converted into an ATEX container?

The conversion process is complex and must be carried out by certified organizations. At Cubner, we directly supply containers with their certificate of conformity to guarantee your legal and technical security.

Which sectors use ATEX cold storage?

The main user sectors are the petrochemical industry (storage of solvents, hydrocarbons), cosmetic laboratories (volatile raw materials), paint and varnish manufacturers, the energy sector (hydrogen, batteries), as well as the pharmaceutical and chemical industry requiring cold storage in potentially explosive environments.

What is an ATEX refrigerated container?

An ATEX (Explosive Atmospheres) refrigerated container is a reefer container whose internal and external components have been modified to eliminate any risk of sparks or excessive heat. It is designed to store volatile substances (solvents, alcohols, liquefied gases) or to be installed in a production area with a risk of explosion, while maintaining a cold chain between -30°C and +20°C.
